Room 4 Community Garden

Here is our Room 4 Community Garden, all planted ready for us to start taking great care of.

We are learning to grow and care for a community garden.

The idea of our community garden is for children to be involved in growing the vegetables, caring for the garden, watering, weeding and the other odd jobs.  We are lucky to have had a couple of parents and grandparents offer their support in working with children to take care of our community garden.

As vegetables are ready, parents will be encouraged to take what they need for a meal from the garden.  Children will then get the pleasure in eating their grown produce.  The next step will be for children to help replant to continue our community garden.

We have peas, lettuce, chives, rhubarb, courgettes, silverbeet,  mint and parsley growing at the moment with room for more additions to our garden.

As our garden begins to grow, children will become more involved in the gardening process.
